El Gouna Times - Red Sea

Pierre Kaffer, a professional race car driver in the Audi Factory Team for the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) arrived yesterday in El Gouna, to receive the keys of his newly bought property in El Gouna.

Together with Daniel Breitbach, PR Manager of OHD (Orascom Hotels & Development, the company which is owner of El Gouna) we had the opportunity to meet Pierre Kaffer.

Pierre, returning from a trip on the Red Sea (”as beautiful as on the Maladives, but only 3 hrs flight from home”) just harboured the speedboat in the Marina and invited us to come aboard. Here we learned, why he and Udo Schneider, another famous car racer, friend and nowadays also manager of Pierre, as well as Philip Peters and Marco Werner, yet two other VIP’s in the motor sport scene, have chosen El Gouna as their holiday resort.

Interesting to hear was indeed, that Pierre, who has never before visited El Gouna, bought here a property on recommendation and stimulated by the enthousiasm of his friends. Being asked for his first impression of El Gouna, Pierre said to be very charmed by the beauty of El Gouna, and because in his profession, summer seasons are always packed full of professional activity, he needs in winter a refugee with sun guarantee.

The DTM, hosting also famous drivers like Häkkinen and Alesi, is held throughout Europe with Istanbul being the most eastern circuit. Pierre loves competitions like the 24 hrs of Le Mans or the 12 hrs of Sebring in Florida. But of course, especially such extremely long races tear up at a man’s condition. So it’s important to rebuild that same condition after the summer season is over. Doing this in combination with the possibilities El Gouna has to offer like beach, playing golf or scuba diving is in his opinion excellent.

Another big advantage Pierre mentioned is that El Gouna is not so crowded like many other famous tourist resorts. And the quality of the local restaurants is another reason he is already looking forward to enjoy El Gouna with his friends in future.
