Our Photo Album has been hacked…
As you may have noticed during the weekend of October 15th, 2005, we had a small problem with the computer software that runs the database for the El Gouna Times Photo Album. As it appeared, an hacker (his computer being identified under the Cairo IP number 82.129.252.118) used a security leak in the older version of this software in order to destroy the contents of the El Gouna Times Photo Album which totals now about 5,100 pictures, all El Gouna related. Reasons why could not yet be concluded, perhaps somebody is unhappy with the activity of the El Gouna Times? Fortunately, his attempt was not successfull, as we run various backup copies on separate servers and could restore the entire contents quite fast.
Today we installed a newer update of this photo album software which has no longer this security leak, and we have prohibited future user uploads. If you want to upload images in future destinated for our Photo Album, please send them in via E-Mail to the editor info@elgounatimes.com and we’ll take care that the pictures will be added into the respective categories of the El Gouna Times Photo Album.
Needless to tell that all infringements on registered trademarks, trademarks, copyrights, authoring rights, cyber crime, spamming will be reported to local juridicial authorities and to the Federal Computer Crime Unit FCCU and will be prosecuted to the fullest extend.
