Traffic Control: idle hope!

The “traffic assistants” we’ve spotted last week during the Eid el Fitr festivities in El Gouna to secure dangereous traffic spots were only here for some days and have disappeared again.

As we wrote in our previous article, it is certainly one road security improvement all residents and tourists had welcomed. However, the “traffic assistants” have disappeared again, and traffic on El Gouna streets becomes again a bit more dangereous. We are sorry to notice that it was only idle hope we expressed last week.
And so are many of the El Gouna residents and tourists.

The security staff, who gave us all such a display in the strangest hand signaling at key junctions in El Gouna, seemed to disappear along with the Mercedes exhibition held at the Abu Tig Marina recently.

Nice to see that corporate events are met with such enthusiasm, but then again, with the poor and often inadequate road signs, no one would have ever found the Marina without a red neon batten being waved about in such a manner, it was lucky a passing helicopter didnt land….

Us dwellers of the Upper Nubia Apartments project, live in hope that one day, signs directing towards our neighbourhood, may show up, as we are next to the Stables, on the the Mangroovy beach road, which alone could do with some advanced warning turn signs, rather than the one you see as you pass by the junction, but more importantly, let Tok Tok and the other delivery services know where we are, as they dont at present..!!
