Winter Market at Abu Tig Marina
During the winter, the Marina Street Festival is replaced by a Winter Market starting at 19:00 every Friday. The concept is to encourage people to move around the marina because the weather would be too cold to sit in one place for a prolonged time.
The hotels participate by putting up small food stalls with seasonal goodies (e.g. Gluehwein) and snacks. There is entertainment, such as Tanoura dancers and magicians, in addition to live music on two different stages. The shops are encouraged to place stands and sell their wares outside on the promenade, which does take a bit of convincing, since usually they are forbidden to invade the streets…
The first Winter Market took place last Friday and was a success. A higher participation is expected as soon as the information about this new event circulates in El Gouna. In addition, more shops should place tables outside to give a real “market” feeling to it.
