Australian Band “The Slides” In El Gouna
We owe this great event to Hoda Mansour, Manager of the Club House, who, as she puts it: “Just picked them up from a bar in Australia”. Sure sounds like a good catch!
Influenced by the likes of Neil Finn, Coldplay, Wilco and Radiohead, The Slides say that their chiming guitars, soulful harmonies and often sweetly painful lyrics evoke a flashback to another time; a time where people actually wrote and sang their own songs. Let’s hear it on Sunday 18th of December and on Monday 2nd of January at the Club House!
The band, consisting of Damon Fealy (guitars/vocals), Lincoln Retallack (bass/vocals) and Michael Grabbe (drums/vocals), describes their sound as an enigmatic and adult-alternative indie-rock style.
Their debut album “The View From Here” is due to be released down under in February 2006.
