El Gouna FC remained unbeaten

El Gouna FC remained unbeaten and stay on top of the league after their home clash at the Bustan Ground on Saturday 3 december 2005 against lowly El Maragha, seventh in the table.

A hot-tempered first half, marred with incidents, the manager resting Mustafah, Haitham Hossein and Fakry, saw El Maragha bravely defying the home site, unable to deal with their superiority. Gouna came close in the 15th minute, Roston taking on two defenders only to shoot wide from the edge of the box.

El Gouna deservedly took the lead with 35 minutes on the clock when Adel saw off keeper Mohamed Hossein with a delicate chip from Waleed’s corner kick.

El Maragha’s defender Emad Kalmel almost got stretchered off after a nasty collision with the same Waleed, igniting fuel to the match, but luckily enough survived to continue playing.

The second half saw El Gouna squandering a string of chances, Hamed missing a sitter and Achmed Fakry close with a powerful header. With 15 minutes left on the clock Emad was brought down in the penalty area but the referee waved on playing, much to the disgust of the home crowd.

Three minutes from time the home site finally found the net with a fine goal from youngster Allah Mustafa to make it a narrow 2-0 margin.

It’s worrying to see Gouna FC creating chances against weaker opposition but not being able to finish. I wonder what will happen if they meet real strong opposition.

Next Saturday El Gouna will travel to Maragha to play Shabeb, today’s local rivals.
